The Insanity Continues

The jobless recovery continues. Unemployment sets a new high of 9.8 percent but if you count those who have given up finding a job and those who have taken a part-time job or one paying less than they made before, the rate is closer to 17 percent. In addition, the problem is compounded by additional businesses being forced to close their doors due to the continued economic contraction. Yet, the administration acts surprised that home foreclosures continue to rise. Could it be that individuals who are out of work do not have the cash to make their mortgage payment?

However, never fear, hope is here. We can get the 2016 Olympics and that will stimulate the economy, at least in Chicago but wait, I guess we messed that one up. Thankfully, the Nobel Prize came just in time to restore hope, like that is going to put people back to work.

However, before all hope is lost, we can still do healthcare in spite of those rascally Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats. We can come in the back door and attach it as an amendment to another bill or just pass it in conference without them being able to do anything about it.

We can also tax them now, cut their Medicare and Medicaid benefits now and implement the public option health plan in 2013 after Obama (aka the Messiah) is re-elected. That way when it fails, those rascally Republicans will not use it against us in the 2012 election. This will also give us additional tax revenue and spending cuts to reduce the $1.4 trillion deficit before the election.

Finally, we need cap and tax, or is it now called pollution reduction, so we can keep our environmental buddies happy because we will need their money for the election since we messed up with Joe Wilson and the republicans are raising mucho (for our Spanish speaking constituents) more money than we are.

If all this were not so true it would make a hilarious episode for a sitcom. Unfortunately, however, it is all too true. What the American economy needs is more capital through tax reductions and reductions in regulations so businesses can invest and expand. This will create more real jobs so individuals can keep their houses and buy their own health care on the open market.

We can also increase competition in health care through the free market. Go to www.althealthcareref.blogsopt.com to find out how. This increased competition cuts costs to consumers giving them even more capital to invest and spend and it will improve the quality of care since providers will have to compete with each other.

As far as cap and trade goes, it may create some jobs for environmentalists but it is a job and budget killer for most individuals and an extremely destructive idea. We all want clean air and the market will develop green products as people demand them but it will never happen if individuals are forced into accepting green as a way of life.

It is time to get engaged. Vote in the 2010 and 2012 elections and bring unemployment to the liberals in congress and President Obama. Doing this will save our jobs and create jobs for those who have lost theirs. Work the polls in your prescient to insure the elections are fair. Work the phones for conservative candidates to push them over the top. Bring other conservatives to the polls to insure a massive turnout. And most of all, do not give up hope for we can bring about real hope and change to this country by proactively taking back control of this economy.
